Cape May Lighthouse
The Moravian mosaic tile on the floor of the Pennsylvania State Capital Building was designed by Henry Chapman Mercer in 1906. The 16,000 sq. ft. work of art expresses the story of Pennsylvania’s rich history in pictures. In 1999, MPG was commissioned to preserve the integrity of this masterpiece of American folk art. The scope of this historic conservation project included: A complete survey of the 16,000 sq foot floor, fabrication of matching replacement mosaic tile and stabilization of the existing tile and mortar. All work on this sensitive stabilization and restoration project was accomplished “off-hours”, so there was no disruption in State Government activities – The project was completed on-time.
