Firestone Library at Princeton University - Princeton, NJ

Princeton Chapel 1 Princeton Chapel 2 Princeton Chapel 3
Princeton Chapel

The Firestone library was constructed in 1948.  The structure was designed in the Gothic spirit, to compliment the rest of the Princeton University campus.  Today, the 300,000 square foot building is the largest library building on campus.  It houses over 1.8 million volumes as well as nearly all of the library’s administrative functions.  In 2004, MPG was commissioned to lead the project management team for the first significant restoration on the library since its construction.  The initial project concentrated on restoring the masonry envelope of the library tower and the frontal face of the building.  Emergency restoration for eight decorative finials was later added to the scope of work.  The overall project met or exceeded all stated goals and was completed on time.
